MayaBags™ Food Covers
The MayaBags™ Home Decor food covers are a beautiful and natural way to protect your food from flying insects before and during a sit down dinner outdoors or a buffet indoors or out. Hand woven by Thomas Cho, a Maya man, they are made out of vine split into thin, woodlike strands. The Maya artisan pulls the thorny vines out of rain forest trees, peels the splintered skin off, then hand splits the vine. The vine wood is scraped to create light material, while the dark is left alone. Used intermittently, the artisan creates the simple pattern you see on these covers.
Each cover has a small loop at the top to conveniently lift it off for serving and replace it when a guest is finished.
For easy and space saving storage, the covers are designed to stack.
Wholesale Priced for the Set of Four Covers: $105.00.
Large: 16” Diameter; Medium-large: 14” Diameter;
Medium: 12” Diameter; Small: 10” Diameter (Please note: As handmade products, size varies so these sizes are approximate.)
One of a kind, these baskets are made by hand. Color and design always varies slightly. They are made of jippy jappa, a plant fiber varying in color from off white to olive green to dark brown. Sometimes men in the village grow it for the women and sometimes the women find it along the paths or around the rivers where they do their washing. Basket sizes and shapes may also vary somewhat. Beyond buying a collectible artisanal product, with each purchase, you help provide income to a Maya woman and help her buy food for the family or send her children to school. The artisan's name is written on banana paper and attached to the bottom of the basket.
Elliptical Basket
This elliptical Maya basket, coiled with three colors of mixed jippy jappa, makes a wonderful,

artistry. Sized 7” to the top of the basket; 13.5” diameter across the center of the basket.
Priced at $150.00
